How does this sound...JD Welsch paints a picture of an irish woman who has been through hell and back and came out the other side strong, scrappy and probably a bit jaded. I gave it three stars because it starts off a bit slow, speaks a bit 'factual' in the back story and is a bit on the nose with some spots, but there are a LOT of strong emotions in the book that keep the storyline interesting... sadness, fear, anger, lust, jealousy... It doesn't lack conflict. The main character, nicknamed V, finds herself trying to interpret first impressions and body language while navigating her way through a dinner party hosted by a man that seems to be the 'one'. But it doesn't take much for her past to mess with her head and make her assume things instead of confronting the issue like she SHOULD. (Don't we all do that from time to time?) Of course, this leads to monumental bad decisions combined with alcohol... Which make for hot sex scenes for us to read, but for V it's a mixture of fantasy, risky moments, and revenge at the same time. I have to admit at times the character pissed me off, made me sad, made me gasp with shock, and made my bottom lip drop. I'm interested to see how the next book goes as this author's writing evolves through V's adventures.

Mitch invites V to a dinner party at his house and things get out of hand with a spiteful guest. Which sets V on an super exciting night. Really exciting read. Loved it!
Loved writing style for romantic, erotic, sensual, sexual, steaming, smoldering hot, to blazing sex scenes. Obvious alternative to Viagra, but still very sensual and romantic.
Started with only a hint of heritage, just enough to grab a readers attention, but ended leaving me proud to have Irish bloodline.

This is a scorching hot read and a quick read as well. I was able to finish it in one day however this was not a uninterrupted read. I first started the book in the waiting room of the Doctor's office while waiting for my hubby to get test ran and dang it didn't take long for me to realize I need to wait to get home to read the book it was so freaking hot and I finished the book that night in bed with my hubby and Wow it made for a great night and JD my hubby thanks you for the hot read as well ;)
This book beside being hot had me saying damn to some of the twist as well as a few moments of humor that made me laugh. The characters were interesting and "V" was so life like that I could imagine that she was sitting across from me telling me this story.
Once you start reading this story you are not going to want to put the book down until you get to the satisfying ending.
I can't wait to read the rest of the series.
What can I say I love books about strong, passionate Irish woman because I am Irish. This is basically a self discovery book for Veronica as she works her way through her life and love life. This is an erotic book so if you do not like that then you will not like this book. I also like how she knows what she is worth and makes sure people treat her like she deserves, no she is not spoiled but she knows how she should be respected and treated. The writing may just set your kindle on fire so be careful ;)
"About Last Night" by JD Welsch is the first in a series of novellas with the group title "The Chronicles of V." "V" is Veronica Finn, a beautiful and sexy woman who is a musician in a rock band. In this opening story, she is invited to a private party thrown by a local business owner, Mitchell Thomas. Mitchell and Veronica had met five months previous, and each has been on the other's mind since then.
But once the party begins, a series of events turn this party for Veronica into a revenge-inspired group sex session with Mitchell's friends.
The writing itself is very erotic and moves at a good pace. The sex scenes are very explicit and very erotic, and are intended for only adult readers. The only little criticism I have of the book is its editing and prose structure. It is a self-published book, which usually results in an imperfect product. But even that small complaint does not lessen the fact that JD Welsch is a talented storyteller, with a deliciously erotic imagination, which she puts to very good use in this story, and I'm sure in the stories to come. For those of you who crave a story with a fair to good amount of graphic sex and well-developed characters involved in that sex, this first installment in "The Chronicles of V" is a very good way to spend a little time away from the drab reality of the real world and into a world of erotic passions and escapism.
